The 2025 Festive Folktale Yarn Mini Skein Advent Calendar Pre-Order is here!! (IMPORTANT: These will ship out to be received by mid-November 2025)
Some exciting changes are in store for this year! Although the festive recipes theme for the last 4 years was a huge hit and so much fun to create, I thought it would be fun to change it up in a couple of ways.
This past year, I have had the opportunity to travel a bit and I have been very much inspired by the colorful world of Folklore and Folktales. Our colors this year will draw inspiration from these tales from around the world. As we open each mini skein and create together, we will learn a little about the characters and tales-of-old, imbuing our creations with this rich storytelling history. In place of a "menu" of recipes (as in my past calendars), you will receive a "table of contents", with links to the stories, characters or art inspiration for each day's colorway. Starting December 1st, 2025, there will be a special accompanying Festive Folktale page on my website for you as well, revealing each days colorway and accompanying inspirations. And we will chat about it all on Instagram and in Ambah O'Brien's Festive Knitalong on Ravelry!
Additionally, I have decided to add 3 new gorgeous yarn mini skein base options! I have a new Yak/Merino blend, a new Merino/Silk blend and my beloved Baby Alpaca Suri/Silk blend. I am now also able to get mini skeins in my 100% Merino PLY DK, so I have decided to switch to this (in place of the Merino Nylon DK option). So that is a whopping 8 base choices for the yarn minis!
These are limited edition and one of a kind, so order early to be sure to get your base choice! Despite my best predictions, every year I sell out and get several requests for more. I don't want anyone to be disappointed! This is also the lowest price they will be (prices could go up with the later orders if my wholesale supplier and (the dreaded) shipping prices increases). I am taking pre-orders now so I have plenty of time to secure the yarn and work on dyeing these in batches. The advents take so much time to complete - they are truly a labor of love! I really want to spread out the process over the year, so I can work on them throughout and make this the best year yet!
Each day of December through Christmas, you will get to open a surprise mini skein of yarn. This set includes 25 minis in total (most include 24!) along with some other fun holiday or fiber related goodies added in here and there! Each day's gift is individually wrapped - what could be more fun for a knitter or fiber crafter?!
This year, when you order early, you have your choice of 8 base yarns and we also have some fun optional add-ons. (I have secured inventory on all 8 bases for now. I may have to limit some of the bases later on, so order early so you don't miss out).

The 2025 collection will be a surprise - however, you can check out the mood board as a little hint for my general color direction! This collection will be a beautiful flow and fade of color consisting of speckles and semi-solids which can be combined as they are unwrapped or used in a modular project or in many other ways. You will also see how the colors flow and relate to our Folktale theme. I have also included images from my past calendars.

My advent calendar is inspired by my participation for the past 8 years in the wildly popular FESTIVE Knit-Along on Ravelry by Ambah O'Brien. Each year, she creates new patterns for a beautiful project that uses 24-25 Mini Skeins with an optional full skein. Each new yarn is opened in the morning and a few rows are knit using the yarn of the day. There is a fun (and huge) social group for sharing on Ravelry - it is so much fun. Also there are lots of prizes to win!
